Meet the Autograph University Class of 2013 – Josh Hamilton

In our inaugural Class of 2013 we have recognized six athletes who have gone above and beyond to accommodate autograph collectors over the course of their careers. Each of these friends of our hobby will receive an honorary degree from Autograph University as a token of our gratitude. Thank you to all the readers who submitted a nomination. We selected a very strong first class and I look forward to celebrating the very best signers with you each year.

Since finding stability in Major League Baseball and life, Josh Hamilton has emerged as a superstar on and off the field. His fan-friendly nature is well documented; in addition to his accessibility in person he is also stellar TTM (75% as reported by SportsCollectors.net). Hamilton rounds out our Class of 2013 after receiving more nominations from Autograph University readers than any current ballplayer not named Pat Neshek.

NOTE: It appears Hamilton waits until after the season to respond to mail requests with most returned in time for the holidays.

Have you received an autograph from Josh Hamilton? Leave a comment and share your story with us.

I’ve never written Josh ttm. I’ve only received his autograph in person at the Rangers ballpark. He was always nice, cool, and laid back. Over the years he signed a total of 19 autographs for me. Not to mention the sigs my son got from him as well. My two favorites from him are my authentic Josh Hamilton away jersey signed and my Josh Hamilton bobblehead signed.

I had an amazing experience with Hamilton. He is my all-time favorite baseball player (Followed by Jeter and Prince) and I was fortinute enough that the LA Angels visited Chicago (Where I am based) Twice this baseball season. First, I went when they played at US Cellular Field. He was nice and signed my 8-10, nothing special. But then, in July, they played the Cubs. I had a sign that read ” Hambone you are my Idol ” That did the trick. He walked right over to me, and signed my 11-14. Then, he hushed all of the kids and started talking to me. We just chatted for like 5 minutes about stuff from baseball to sibilings. It was amazing. When he left, he said “I appreciate you coming out to see me, buddy”. Probably my best autograph experience ever from the best MLB signer today
