Autograph University Interview: Benny Feilhaber

I’ll never forget Landon Donovan’s game-winning goal in stoppage time against Algeria in the 2010 World Cup. It marked a victory not only for U.S. Soccer but for soccer in America.

If you watch the replay, you’ll see that one of the first teammates to celebrate with Donovan, on the bottom of that pile, is Benny Feilhaber. A playmaking reserve, he was a key contributor to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s run in South Africa. After a successful stint in Europe with stops in Germany and Denmark, Feilhaber recently joined the New England Revolution—the latest marquee name imported by Major League Soccer.

Benny took time during a Boston meet-and-greet to talk to me about his autograph signing habits, the difference between European and American collectors, and whose soccer jersey he’d like to add to his collection.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think of the interview.

What a great interview. Benny answers the questions with detail and honesty. The jersey trading question was a particularly good one from my perspective, since I never understood that practice. It was interesting to hear the forethought that goes into it. He seems like a great guy.
