Submit Your Story for the 2013 Autograph University Yearbook
As soon as I hit publish on last year’s inaugural edition of the Autograph University Yearbook I was looking forward to the 2013 edition. Why? I knew once people read the entertaining and emotional stories submitted by fellow members of the autograph community they’d want to get involved. I can’t thank enough the collectors who stepped up and participated in the 2012 Yearbook. They helped lay the foundation for what is going to be a monster publication this year. But to make it happen I need YOUR help.
I want your story for the 2013 Yearbook.
We all have a tale to tell, whether it’s a memorable celebrity encounter or a multi-signed piece you spent years finishing. To be a part of this amazing project email me a few paragraphs about something autograph-related you’d like to share with the community. Some ideas:
- A favorite autograph adventure
- The story behind acquiring a favorite item(s) in your collection
- Why you collect autographs and love the hobby
- “What I learned” about autographs (tips, etc.)
Submissions will be included unedited (except for typos.) The 2013 Yearbook will be distributed in June as an eBook and will be free to download.
Submission guidelines:
- Submissions will be accepted until May 11. Email your submission to matt@autographu.com.
- Your submission should be as long as it needs to be (although 100 – 500 words is recommended).
- Have a picture? Send it along and I’ll try to include it (layout has yet to be finalized).
- Include your Name and the Contact Information you’d like to appear with your entry (e.g., email, Twitter handle, website URL).

Well where do I begin it was Spring Training 2008. I wanted to get my favorite player Dustin Pedroia’s autograph. He signed about 5 autographs that day of course I was 3 people away I was pretty discouraged. Then in Spring Training 2011 I was 1 person away from getting him and he stopped signing just my luck haha.
Anyway in September of 2011 I was 1 person away from getting him again at the Trop this time I wanted his new SI signed and once again dissapointment set in. Again in 2012 in Clearwater during Spring Training I missed the team bus pulling in and Pedroia signed once again I was discouraged and frustrated. Later on that day Pedroia signed again on the complete opposite side of where I was I tore up my SI this time. I went to a few regular season games and he didnt sign any of the games I went to.
In spring training this year I hit the Twins outside coming into Jetblue Park. Then when I went inside of the park I went to the only corner that there was room for people the Red Sox baseline was completely crowded. Pedroia comes out into the dugout ignores us for atleast 45 minutes I wasnt suprised.. Then after warmups he ran by the people waiting on the 3rd baseline and I thought that he defianetely wouldnt sign. But the little kid next to me called him again and he comes out to sign in our corner my heart was racing he grabbed the little kids marker the kid had a new blue sharpie and I know that he runs with the same sharpie so he grabbed my card next and a another kids baseball then he takes off. I finally got my white whale it was definately a moment for me to remeber.
